A commercial fitout in the heart of Nelson’s CBD, this project has been a catalyst for re-invigorating a city centre that has been struggling to retain its vibrancy where retail vacancies are an all too common sight. This studio has subverted the typical shopfront typology by occupying a street front tenancy - a small step towards exploring an alternate future for our urban spaces. What began as bewildering cacophony of mismatched carpet and ceiling tiles held together by a rabbit warren of partitions is now a simple, bright and open space.  This was an exercise in peeling back layers and embracing the raw nature of the base construction.
